Red Rice (Sivappu Arisi)

 Red Rice Puttu

Made Puttu with Bliss tree red rice. Truly aromatic and soft textured. Love it.


Steps to make 

  1. Roast the red rice well after rinsing and air drying on a cotton towel. 
  2. Cool and Powder to a fine rava consistency. 
  3. Then  mix it with few tea spoons of warm water, let it sit for about 30 minutes. 
  4. Then steam in puttu kudam or in a cotton towel on idli plates for about 20 minutes. 
  5. You can also add layers of coconut in between the red rice grits. 
  6. Sweet dish - add jaggery powder, ghee and cardamom 
  7. Savory dish - Have kadala kari as side
